City College of San Francisco's mouldering Bookstore Annex building was reduced to rubble by a Swinteron Builders work crew on Tuesday.

For decades, thousands of students bought school supplies at the single-story building outfitted with a red awning.

But the bookstore on Frida Kahlo Way near Ocean Avenue moved out circa 2013, and the college used it for storage.

Swinerton Builders was awarded a $680,000 contract to demolish the building, including hazardous materials remediation, along with the demolition of some bungalows and some other work.
