An accidental fire displaced nine people on Sunday night.

The San Francisco Fire Department shared on X at 10:18 p.m. that the blaze was on the 100 block of Caine Avenue.

The one-alarm fire was on the second floor when firefighters arrived on the scene and completely destroyed the second floor. The first floor was damaged by smoke and fire-suppressing water.

"When units arrived, they were met with heavy fire on the entire second story of a home with fire blowing out the windows," a SFFD spokesperson told The Ingleside Light. "Units quickly deployed their hose lines and searched the building for any remaining occupants. Crews battled intense heat and flames throughout the second floor and kept the fire to a one-alarm fire."

The fire department said the fire was accidental and that five of the nine people displaced requested assistance from the Red Cross for temporary housing.

No injuries were reported. However, one cat and one bunny died in the fire, SFFD told The Ingleside Light.

The Ingleside Light reached out to SFFD for more information.
