The long-awaited expansion of San Francisco's H Mart has an opening date.
The new housewares department wing, which includes an expanded food court featuring a larger Daeho restaurant, will officially open on Friday, June 19.
“We sincerely thank our customers for their continued support of our San Francisco store," H Mart said in a news release. "This expansion reflects our commitment to providing a broader product assortment and an enhanced shopping experience. We will continue working to improve our stores and deliver greater value to our communities.”
To celebrate the extra 30,000 square feet or so of Korean American retail space, the company will offer discounts of up 50% on some housewares items and special gift promotions from June 19 to July 5, 2026.

H Mart Smart Rewards members will receive complimentary H Mart and California-themed tote bags and customers who follow H Mart on social media channels KakaoTalk, Instagram, WeChat, LINE and RedNote are eligible for a free pair of chopsticks while supplies last.
Daeho is offering a 50% discount on select frozen meal kits — Kalbijjim, Kalbi Tang and Seolleongtang — while supplies last.
Merced Extension Triangle Neighborhood Association Vice President said, "Neighborhood residents are looking forward to H Mart's expansion."
The neighborhood group is very happy to have H-Mart revitalize the OceanView Village shopping center.
"They’ve been a great partner in the neighborhood," METNA President Neil Hunt said.

The new wing includes not only the Housewares Department but also tenant spaces, creating a more diverse and enhanced shopping environment, according to H Mart.
Two tenants — a hair salon and a shop, possibly for cosmetics — are being sought for the new wing, according to flyers posted outside.
One other known tenant is Japanese arcade purveyor Kiddleton.
H Mart's spokesperson declined to provide more information about the supermarket's tenants.
