Walgreens may have abandoned Ingleside's stretch of Ocean Avenue last year, but you wouldn't know it from looking at the long-gone pharmacy's parking lot.

For over a year, nearly every space has been full during business hours on weekdays and weekends. All manner of vehicles, cars and trucks, SUVs and hatchbacks, sit while drivers visit the UPS Store, Java on Ocean Cafe and other nearby shops.

A reader wrote in to suggest that the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency install meters to keep spaces turning over.

But the days of free parking are over. Over the weekend, the Housing Guild, the manager of the property, closed the lot off with a chain and a sign, something that they told The Ingleside Light they would do several weeks ago.

Mark Mercado, an employee of The UPS Store, said the closure is a shame. Customers appreciated the convenience.

The Housing Guild said the property has been leased by a grocery store, but would not disclose the name.

The Ingleside Light has it on good authority that All Fresh Market will be the tenant. The property managers said it will take many months for the building to be ready.
