San Francisco Police Department personnel rendered aid, but the man was declared dead at the scene.
A delivery driver died Friday morning after being pinned between a box truck and a wooden gate on the Judson Avenue side of City College of San Francisco.
Police officers responded to the scene at 10:52 a.m., located the adult male victim and rendered aid until medics arrived, according to the San Francisco Police Department. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
"At this time, the investigation has determined in this solo vehicle collision, the victim was struck by his vehicle while he was outside, which caused his fatal injuries," SFPD spokesperson Allison Maxie said.
The driver was making a delivery to the college for Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery around 10:30 a.m.
Steven Brown, head of the Environmental Horticulture and Floristry Department, was away at an event promoting the college when he was alerted to the incident, he said.
The driver seemed to have trouble using the gate code to drive on campus and exited the vehicle, Brown told The Light. A teacher found the driver pinned against the gate and offered assistance. Another teacher arrived, and they called 911.

On Friday afternoon, the Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery and City College personnel were examining the scene.
"Chief Mario Vasquez and his team have been supporting SFPD in its investigation of the accident," Chancellor Kimberlee Messina said in a college-wide announcement about the fatal incident. "We offer prayers to the family of the deceased. We will share more information when it is available."
