Ocean Avenue is the muse for the artists whose paintings, prints, sculpture, jewelry, plant art and more will be on display at the Ingleside Gallery pop-up art show this weekend.
“Gotta Love Ocean Ave” will feature new, emerging and established neighborhood artists from Friday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 10 at the soon-to-open small business assistance center Ocean Incubators.
“The theme came about from the brainstorming session between all the artists and finding that we all have been dreaming of space to share our art for a really long time,” oil-painter and Ingleside Gallery curator Shrey Purohit told the Ingleside Light.
Works by neighborhood-based artists Dawn Weickum, Adrienne Leifer, Michael Kang, Heidi Stratton, Shrey Purohit and Kate Favetti will follow the Ocean Avenue theme. There will also be a section of four artists whose works come from the previous shows.
“We want to emphasize that Ocean Avenue has so much potential,” Purohit said. “We want to bring people out from other parts of the city.”
The show is a good opportunity to acquire special and unique gifts ahead of the holiday season, Purohit added.
“Gotta Love Ocean Ave” marks Ingleside Gallery’s fourth show since launching on Sept. 17.
There will be seven more group shows and a couple more solo and themed shows this year, Purohit said.
Ocean Avenue Association, a community benefit district charged with cleaning Ingleside’s retail district, sponsored the show with $1,000 for marketing and production, according to Purohit.
Date: Friday, Oct. 8 to Sunday, Oct. 10
Time: 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
