An Instagram user with the handle @norcalbodycam posted footage secured via a public records request of the Aug. 17 Muni train derailment near Balboa Park Station.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency told The Ingleside Light last month that the incident caused no injuries and that an investigation was underway. The last derailment reported in the news was in 2018.

The footage, posted on Tuesday, shows the K-Ingleside two-car train leaving the Cameron Beach Yard and going southbound on San Jose Avenue. While crossing the intersection, the second car appears to slightly fish-tail into oncoming traffic. One motorist quickly drives out of the way as a Muni employee on the street quickly flags down the train's operator.

@norcalbodycam claims the cause was a switch error. It's unconfirmed at this time.

TikTok user @johnnysoto24 shared footage of a derailed K Ingleside train.

"We mitigated impacts to operations safely and thoroughly, and the appropriate steps are underway, including working with the California Public Utilities Commission, our state regulatory oversight agency, to understand the cause of this incident," a spokesperson told The Ingleside Light last month.
