Shaping San Francisco, the participatory community history project, will hold a short walk about the history of the two institutions of higher education that bookend Ingleside called City College to San Francisco State.

“Learn about the struggle for union rights and a Free City College, visit the Urbano Sundial, and end at the historic SF State University campus, where the 1968-69 student/faculty strikes led to the establishment of the first College of Ethnic Studies in the U.S.” the announcement reads.

This talk and tour is part of the organization’s Urban Forum series.

They are short urban walks that feature speakers and allow for conversation about history, public space and other themes, according to Shaping San Francisco.

The talks are partly underwritten by the City Lights Foundation and Rainbow Grocery Cooperative.
